Finally, we get Rainer’s story. We get to see who this mysterious woman was, that we only briefly met in Flawed Heart, and we get to see if it’s possible for him to ever have the love that he desperately needed. Rainer and Mali- wow, what a history. Childhood best friends and first loves, ripped apart by circumstances beyond their control. Truly a second chance romance with this one. Bella also did a fantastic job of flashing back and forth between the past and present, so that we got the full story of their history. I loved that part. However, there were some things about Flawed Love, that I didn’t like.
Well, after reading this book, my opinion of Pippa (from Desolation- Joker’s Wrath MC), has most definitely changed. Of course, after reading the Joker’s Wrath series, we all know that Pippa and Rainer both suffered a terrible history, and from that- have forged a unique and strong bond that most do not understand. However, we also found out in Flawed Heart, that he is in love with her!! Yeah. So, even though Pippa is committed to Tyke and loves Rainer as a friend, she just doesn’t return the deep feelings that he feels toward her. That said, she is very quick to get jealous of Mali when she enters the picture, which I had a huge problem with. To me, if she is so in love with and committed to Tyke, then she shouldn’t have any possessive feelings toward Rainer at all. At least not of a romantic nature. However, when she sees them together, or even when she hears that they have been “intimate”, she rushes from the room, and appears to be deeply hurt and offended by it. I just didn’t get it. It’s like she didn’t want him, but she didn’t want anyone else to have him either. Even though, she claims to like Mali and only want what’s best for Rainer. Again, major issue with the way that Pippa acted. I never pegged her to be so petty, so it really disappointed me.
As far as Rainer goes, he was just as bad. Every time that Pippa seemed to be the least bit upset, about ANYTHING, but especially with Mali- he rushed to her side, and did whatever it took to comfort her. This was usually only moments after he was with Mali, in a sexual way, or had just told Mali that he wanted to see where things went between them. Talk about messing with someone’s head. And poor Mali, she actually overheard him tell Pip one time that she was only a bit of fun, and that no one would ever matter to him as much as Pippa did. I wanted to throat punch him in that very moment. After feeling sorry for him, and hating that he had been through such a traumatic past, and that he was pining away for his unavailable best friend— he did something so vile. I wanted so much more for Mali than that. I wanted her to always be first in Rainer’s eyes, to always be the only woman that he wanted, and most of all- to be loved wholeheartedly.
Perhaps Mali revealing the truth to him gave him the kick in the pants that he needed to wise up. I don’t know. I just know that suddenly he was faced with an ultimatum. Pippa or Mali. Continue to pine away for someone that he would never have, and always rush to her side, or finally open his eyes to the woman that he had loved all along- his first love, his true best friend, and the one who had never put him second. I won’t give away the details of the ending, but we all know that Bella always makes us happy readers, so take from that what you will. I do recommend Flawed Love, because the story itself, is a great one, even though I had major issues with Rainer & Pippa throughout, it is still a fabulous book!!
4 stars!!!
We were born into the same crowd.
His father: a useless drunk. My mother: a psycho junkie.
Seven years later, he forgot about me.
I don’t know the exact moment he changed.
The next thing I knew – he was gone.
Ten years and I didn’t see or hear from him.
I let him believe I’m just a girl that walked into his bar.
But all secrets have an end, don’t they?
