Pain and anguish. Those are about the only two words that I can use to best describe the emotions that Devney Perry conveys in this book. Anger could also be used. Because there is SO much of it. It is raw and ugly. And oh so powerful. It will bring you to your knees. But that's exactly why you need to read this book.
Everything about Tragic is exactly as the title suggests. Kaine and Piper's story is not all peaches and cream, or butterflies and rainbows, or whatever beautiful analogy you you can think of. It's so hard to read sometimes because of the level of emotions you encounter, but you have to power through. For the sake of the the love that you want the two to achieve on the other side- power through.
Piper deserved as much happiness as anyone I could've ever imagined, and after seeing her move to Lark Cove- I knew that she could find it. Even if it was in the Montana mountains. But after meeting Kaine Reynolds, I wanted that happiness to be him. I wanted his redemption at life to be her. I just wanted, no needed, them to have each other.
I think that every story of Devney Perry's is beautiful, poignant even. But this one, god this one- it may just be THE one. The one that rises above all of the others. The best one. The one that makes all others pale in comparison. And that's hard to say, after reading all of her words.
But these words, they are to be remembered for a very long time. And a book hangover will be with me for more time that I can even begin to describe, and for that- Tragic gets a gleaming 5 stars.
