Well, it's not every day that you meet a former felon turned donut entrepreneur, but Thorne is just that!! I have to say that when reading the synopsis for this one, I had no idea how it was going to play out, given his description, because honestly- how does one even come up with such character traits? But, Dani seemed to do it, and do it pretty well.
While this isn't my favorite of hers, as I had a little harder time connecting with Thorne and CeeCee for some reason, it is by no means a bad book. Thorne is a highly possessive, forceful and purely dominant man, that has no reservations about telling his lady love exactly what he wanted, when he wanted it and how.
Given that much of Cee's past had been controlled for her, it didn't sit right with me that she so easily allowed Thorne to do the same. I wanted to see her have a bit more of a bite with him, and more fire in her belly when dealing with him and the way he handled her and their life. I completely understood his need to protect her and the life they had created, but I still felt that he was a bit too much at times, when it came to her past experience with the men in her life.
Thorne and Cee are hot, don't get me wrong, and are definitely not a story to miss out on, but I just wouldn't pick theirs as my favorite of Dani's. I may be in the minority on this one, but this is just my opinion. Anywho, pick it up, because regardless of my issues, it's still great overall. 4 stars!!
