I just don’t know how LLV does it. With every single book and every single couple, she makes me fall even more in love with every one. I think I love every couple more than the last, but always have my favorites, of course. But Slate and Harleigh Belle- they are maybe, just maybe, my new favorites.
These two, y’all- they’re just more than I can describe. The stuff that not just one, but both of them have had to endure is horrible. They’ve both been handed crap situations that were beyond their control, that they didn’t deserve, and both have overcome them better than you’d expect.
But what they didn’t expect, was to flourish together. To grow together, and to love together. That’s something that hit them both like a ton of bricks. They started out in a love-hate relationship, which quickly grew into a love-love bond that refused to be broken.
As this was the end of the Bear Bottom series (incredibly sad about that, by the way)- there’s plenty of page time with the rest of the gang, and their women- so that’s a huge plus. Also, some of the Free guys and gals play a part as well. It’s everything I wanted and then some, and only made me want more LLV when I finished. I can’t wait to see what the next series is gonna bring, and can only imagine how hard I’ll fall for the next couple.
You murder a man, and all of a sudden people are scared of
you.
Slate Solis went from being a guy that people went to in
times of need to an ex-con that people crossed the street to avoid being too
close to.
He knows he’s done wrong, but out of all of his sins, only
one really bothers him—coveting thy neighbor’s wife.
Harleigh Belle—the cute little lady that never gives him a
second glance.
After seeing her for the first time while he was in prison,
she’s stayed on his mind for three long years. Each time she comes in to visit
with her friend on family day, he can’t help but stare.
Then the day comes that he’s set free, and he’s almost
disappointed that he’ll never see her again.
Except fate has different plans.
He hasn’t been back in his house for more than three hours
when he sees her.
Harleigh Belle in all her glory…oh, and her husband that is
everything Slate isn’t.
He tells himself that her being fifty feet away from him,
all day every day, is a complete coincidence.
One that he shouldn’t take
advantage of. The more time passes, the harder it gets to stay away. Until one
day, and one very ill-timed thunderstorm, ruin everything.
Who knew that baby-making-weather was a real thing?
