He’s a retired army drill sergeant, so he is more than used to getting his way.
And if he can’t have it his way? Well, let’s just say that’s never happened before…
At least not until Cora Maldonado walks into his life, demanding he fall in line, or she’ll find a way to make his life hell.
He finds out fast that Cora marches to the beat of her own drum, and a lot of times that drum takes her farther away rather than closer to where he feels she needs to be.
He can’t stand it.
He wants her, and he has to have her.
It doesn’t matter that she’s twenty years younger than him, and has a father that would rather see him dead than have his baby girl anywhere near him. Nor does it matter that his ex-wife is highly offended that she’s been replaced with a much younger woman.
Despite the odds stacking against them, he’ll fight for what he wants.
His ex-wife, her father, and their age difference be damned.
MY REVIEW:
Coke was one of those characters of Lani’s that, as soon as he was introduced, I knew I had to have his story. He was written in such a way that there was something about him that immediately drew me in and made me latch onto him with two hands and not let go. I knew he was going to get his hooks in deep with me, and I wasn’t wrong.
The way that Coke took June under his wing in her book, as well as cared for his daughter and stood up too his cow of an ex- wife, were just a few of the reasons that I feel so easily for the man that Cora would have falling at her feet. Add to that, the man didn’t blink an eye in the facedown with Gabe Maldonado, and he was solid gold on my list of LLV’s top heroes! It takes one heck of a man to do that!!
These two were so oddly matched, but also perfectly suited for one another that you’d never picture them together, but when you read them- you’ll see that no two people are better together. Kind of like Janie and Rafe. They’re just that perfect. I love that Lani is amazing at doing that- finding two polar opposites, and making them the best suited couple on the planet- blending them so seamlessly, that you’d never imagine them with someone else.
It’s a true talent. One that Lani has, and I hope she never stops using!!
5 huge stars for Coke & Cora!!
