MY REVIEW FOR HARD TO SERVE:
I had no idea that Kyler was the kind of man he was. Meeting
him and seeing him in the previous Hard Ink books gave me no indication that he
was a Dom, or that he was so involved in the lifestyle that he was an actual
Master at his own BDSM club! Who would’ve thought? I didn’t think any of these
LK men could be as down and dirty as Marz (he was my favorite dirty birdie-
mainly because it was so unexpected), but Marz has NOTHING on Kyler Vance. The
man is like his own force of nature! The only downside that he possessed that I
could see, was an incredible amount of self-doubt when it came to whether he
could make things work with Mia. He was constantly feeling as though she needed
better in her life, or that he couldn’t give her exactly what she needed, which
was so unlike his dominant persona. There were so many times I wanted to smack
him upside the head, or shake the crap out of him, so he could get his head out
and see that all Mia needed or wanted- was him.
Now Mia, she threw me for a loop as well. I didn’t realize
just how much some people need a certain lifestyle in order to truly be happy.
But she most definitely required someone in her life that could allow her inner
submissive to shine. I understand how, given her father’s profession and
position in such, that it was difficult for her to find a long-standing partner
in her life. The man that won Mia had to be a true Dom, both in and out of the
bedroom, because that is what made Mia’s heart and soul sing. There was no
other man that I could’ve thought better for that job than Kyler. These two
were, as stated by one of the other Masters of Blasphemy, two sides of the same
coin. Her light to his dark, his hard to her soft- equal halves of the same
heart. So, it killed me to see how quickly and deeply she fell for Kyler, only
to have him walk away when his head got the best of him. Luckily, his head
eventually caught up to his heart and things worked out.
If there is one thing that I can say about this book, it’s that
it was a complete surprise to me to see LK write this kind of story. A
wonderful surprise though. So, if you are wondering whether you can get into a
BDSM book written by Laura Kaye- trust me, you can! You will get so involved in
these two that you’ll find yourself wanting more- more of the men that you meet
in their book, and the women that may come along to bring them to their knees
(even if they are Masters). You’re going to devour this one- just as I did.
Luckily, LK’s new series is all about Blasphemy- and I cannot freaking wait!!
About HARD TO SERVE:
To protect and serve is all Detective Kyler Vance ever wanted to do, so when Internal Affairs investigates him as part of the new police commissioner’s bid to oust corruption, everything is on the line. Which makes meeting a smart, gorgeous submissive at an exclusive play club the perfect distraction…
The director of the city’s hottest art gallery, Mia Breslin’s career is golden. Now if only she could find a man to dominate her nights and set her body—and her heart—on fire. When a scorching scene with a hard-bodied, brooding Dom at Blasphemy promises just that, Mia is lured to serve Kyler again and again.
As their relationship burns hotter, Kyler runs into Mia at work and learns that he’s been dominating the daughter of the hard-ass boss who has it in for him. Now Kyler must choose between life-long duty and forbidden desire before Mia finds another who’s not so hard to serve.

EXCERPT:
HARD TO SERVE
EXCERPT – Dancing:
So many readers
asked for more stories in my bestselling Hard Ink series, and I’m so excited to
be able to give you just that in my new, super sexy HARD TO SERVE! HARD TO
SERVE is an edgy stand-alone love story about a Baltimore police detective
whose red-hot BDSM relationship with a new submissive seems like the perfect
distraction from a trumped-up investigation against him until he learns that
the woman is his boss’s daughter. Talk about sparks flying! I had so much fun
writing this book, and I can’t wait for everyone to read it! And if you enjoy
it, you might like to check out the whole Hard Ink series, now complete! Happy
reading!
Hands
settled on her waist as she moved on the dancefloor. “You want him, Mia?”
She
recognized the voice in her ear before she laid eyes on the speaker. And then
she peered over her shoulder.
Master
Kyler.
“Do you?”
he asked, dark eyes absolutely blazing, his hands gripping her more firmly, his
body moving behind hers.
She
couldn’t pull away despite the chaos erupting in her brain—over the fact that
he was here, over the feelings of relief, rightness, and heat rushing through
her blood, over the fact that she didn’t want to feel anything at all, not if
he didn’t want her back. “What if I do?” she called over the music.
“You don’t,” he gritted out, tugging her back
against him, his cock hard against her lower back. His hands slid upward, inch
by slow inch, until they were right beneath her breasts and she ached for him
to grab her there. Their bodies moved together, falling into a shared rhythm.
The music
changed, the song erupting into an arousing, driving beat that conjured up
images of sweaty bodies and twisted sheets. The dancefloor went wild. The man
with the nice smile and nicer moves offered her a little bow, his gaze flashing
to Kyler behind her, before fading away into the press of bodies.
She
whirled in Master Kyler’s embrace. But, no, he wasn’t her Master, was he? “You
don’t get to tell me what I do or don’t want.”
His arms
banded around her and his hands moved over her back, holding her close, staking
a claim. At least, that’s how it felt. But she didn’t trust it.
“Maybe I
don’t,” he said, hauling her into him, his thigh pushing between hers, forcing
her flowy skirt up to bare more of her legs. The way he moved—the way he moved
her—had her brain thinking about all the other times he’d been between her
legs, thrusting, grinding, penetrating. Her core clenched at the frustratingly
light friction, wanting more, needing
more. Of him. “But what if I’d like to have a say?”
What the
hell did that mean? She pushed at his chest. His closeness made it too hard to
think. But he wouldn’t let her go. “Mast—” She shook her head, exasperated and
overwhelmed. “Kyler, what are you even doing here?”
Blue eyes
blazing, his expression was full of that intensity she loved. He leaned his
mouth to her ear. “Bachelor party. Was on the way out when I saw you. The
others just left. I told them I’d catch up.”
She
frowned. “Why…why did you do that?”
His got
right in her face, their hips grinding together as he guided them, his erection
obvious against her. “Because the woman I can’t stop thinking about is here.”
