Okay, I cannot even begin to tell you how much it pains me to say that I was not in love with this one!! I had such high hopes for the conclusion of X and Anna's story, and I feel as though it somehow just fell flat. I feel like I waited all of this time, thinking that something explosive was going to happen with this book (given how book 1 ended)- only to be disappointed that it didn't.
It just all kind of fizzled out to me. I honestly expected so much better from MV than this one. I don't know how else to say it, other than it seemed to just lack the spark that I had come to associate with Xavier Cold. He is such an intense and commanding man, that it seemed rather insulting that he was so weak in this book. He seemed more controlled by this petty rivalry with an opponent and his juvenile attitude about other men's admiration of Anna, to really concentrate on being the strong man that she fell in love with.
I really am not sure why the conclusion to the story was told this way, but I was left unsatisfied with it. I wanted a different outcome for these two than what MV gave them. I felt their story could have been so much better, and should have been given how long the wait was to get it.
Sorry, but for this one- only 3 stars.
