MY REVIEW:
It's been a while since I've read a book that I haven't fallen in love with, but this one, unfortunately, falls into that category. As much as I wanted to love Brock and Cassody's story, I just couldn't. Mot that the subject matter wasn't good- it was. But the entire story just seemed to be so rushed. Almost like the author just wanted to push something out, like she just wanted to get it done. Add to that, this book seems to be more novella length than novel, and it just didn't click for me.
The story revolves around Brock and Cassidy, step siblings who fall for each other, only to be torn apart by greed. While I felt horrible for all of the years that they missed out on together, I would have liked to know what happened to them during those years. Instead, it all seemed to just be skipped through and barely touched on. Even their reunion, which I had such high hopes for, fell flat. Again, everything was rushed and stilted. Even the chapters of the book are only a few pages each. It just felt like it could have been so much more than it was.
Sadly, this one only gets 3 stars from me. I can only hope that the author's other works are better than this one.
