I know that I have said it before, but god- I LOVE THIS SERIES!! Laura has added yet another fantastic read to the collection of the Hard Ink men, with the story of Easy and Jenna. And what a story it is!!
I had no idea going into it just how hard it was for Easy to open himself to love, and the possibility of having a life with Jenna. All of this due to the insurmountable grief that he had been carrying for years over the death of his fellow soldier and best friend. It was heartbreaking. I wanted to reach into the Kindle and give him a big ole hug, anything in hopes that he would begin to see that there was life after the devastation that he had endured years prior.
Jenna was so awesome with Easy- despite all of the horror she had also endured at the hands of her sister's psycho ex and his cohorts. Hers was also a story of grief, guilt and sorrow- and she, much like Easy, was trying to suffer in the silence alone. She also never realized that she could half a life after the horrors of her past, so it was so refreshing to see that Easy was the one who could offer her that life.
The fact that they were drawn to one another, that the two of them were the only ones to be able to comfort the other- so beautiful. Easy was truly Jenna's rock throughout everything. And Jenna- she was the shining light in Easy's eyes that no one been able to put there before. I loved it!!
This novella, just as it's predecessors did, received a 5 star rating from me. I cannot recommend this series to anyone without raving about it. I mean, come on- these men are ex-military alphas- what's not to love?? :)
Edward "Easy" Cantrell knows better than most the pain of not being able to save those he loves—which is why he is not going to let Jenna Dean out of his sight. He may have just met her, but Jenna's the first person to make him feel alive since that devastating day in the desert more than a year ago.
Jenna has never met anyone like Easy. She can't describe how he makes her feel--and not just because he saved her life. No, the stirrings inside her reach far beyond gratitude.
As the pair are thrust together while chaos reigns around them, they both know one thing: the things in life most worth having are the hardest to hold on to.
