Releasing July 22!!!!
Another grand slam from C.P., making her 2 for 2 with this ole girl!!
Seeing as I loved A Reason to Breathe so much, I was thinking that it was going to be along the same lines as that- but, I was a tad bit mistaken about that. But, definitely not disappointed!! This story, told in third person, focuses on a broken hero as well as a broken heroine. Both too used to the familiar pain that their lives have become to take a chance on something better.
This is the story of Nic and Hope.
Nic, a true southern gentleman, and a Cajun to boot- is wallowing in immense grief, following the untimely death of someone near and dear to him. He lives, eats, sleeps and breathes nothing but sorrow and guilt- day in and day out. It surrounds him, and he doesn't see any way to find his way out of the pain.
That is until he meets Hope.
A fragile, scared young woman who is hiding. Hiding from a past so horrific that it would make most people cringe. Beautiful on the inside and out, she is too focused on running, never being able to put down roots in one place for fear of being discovered. She doesn't think there is anyone she can trust.
Until she meets Nic.
With the help of a motherly, yet busybody of a boss lady (Hope's), they are unknowingly brought together and shown the brighter side of life. They find happiness and love together, away from the guilt, the shame and the fear that has been eating at them both for so long. It is truly beautiful- life changingly beautiful.
I realized rather early that the title of this book had a dual meaning- not only was Hope restored to her glorious former self with the love Nic showed her, but hope was also restored for both Hope and Nic. Their faith in life and love was restored. The hope they had for a future and a life together- it was brought back to them.
This book is one of the best ones that I have read in a while, mixing in love, steam, anguish, and most of all- beauty. I simply loved it.
5 stars!!!!!!!
