Release Day!!! Bang, Bang-- Rachel Van Dyken!!!!

Another Eagle Elite book?? Yes please!!! For those that don't already know, this is one of my all time favorite series, so I am thrilled to get more of it!!!!

SYNOPSIS:
He was my best friend.
Until he became my enemy.
All within the span of one night.

Bang, Bang, Bang, Bang.

The rapid fire of gunshots became the soundtrack to my life.

This is the Mafia. Lines are blurred. Choices are never black and white. And the life you thought you knew is... one giant lie.

He was dead.
And I didn't want his life to be in vain, so I tried to make something of myself. I tried and failed.

Now he's back. Alive. And he wants something...

Me.

Nobody ever said the mafia played fair.
Welcome to The Family.

Because, really- don't we all need some of this.............

And this...........

Or, most especially, this..............

EXCERPT:
I wanted his lips more than I wanted my next breath, but how long before those lips were taken away? How long before my heart would get ripped from my chest a second time? I almost didn’t survive the first — I knew I wouldn’t live through the second.
With a jerk I pulled back and slapped him across the face. “How dare you!”
Ax swore and hit the steering wheel. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry I shouldn’t have assumed—”
“Assumed, what?” I yelled. “That I wouldn’t be completely pissed off? That I wouldn’t be shattered!” My voice wavered. “Totally wrecked forever because I’ve been mourning the loss of my best friend for five damn years only to find out he’s very much alive and suddenly wanting to play the white knight?” My body started to shake. “I died that day!”
Ax’s face twisted with pain. “Amy, I had to protect you… at all costs I had to protect you.”
“Your protection broke my heart,” I whispered.
He sighed, running his hands through his hair before answering. “Ames, sometimes what’s the best for us — is exactly what hurts the most.”
I refused to look at him. Instead I looked down, down at my bare legs, at the outfit I’d almost paraded about in before a crowd of horrible drunk men in order to make money. I wasn’t the same girl he’d left. I was damaged in the worst way. Because by saving me, Ax had taken away all purpose from my life. When I thought he’d died, my only goal was to live because he hadn’t.
And now? Now the shame of my situation was crippling.
Foster care kid.
Unwanted.
Unloved.
And completely and utterly alone. Abandoned, even by my best friend.
“Five years, Ax. And now you come for me…” I licked my lips. “I’m not vain enough to think it’s because you can’t find anyone to warm your bed at night, and I’m not confident enough to think it’s because you missed me so much you just couldn’t stay away. What do you want?”
“You.”
“Try again.”
He swore and looked away. “It doesn’t have to be like this. Had I known you were in this position—”
“What?” I snorted then bit down on my lip to keep from crying. “You would have driven here faster? You would have rescued me sooner? Pitied me more? Take your pick, Ax. Now tell me the truth. Don’t start off this new-found relationship with a lie.”
He was silent for a while then whispered, “You have something I need.”
“A brain?”
Ax’s smile nearly took my breath away “Besides that.”
I pressed my lips together and looked out the window at my dark and cramped apartment. “I have exactly one stuffed animal from my old life, the one you gave me when I was six. I have a Polaroid picture, a toothbrush, enough clothes to get me through a week and a half of living, a hairbrush, two elastic hair bands — Do you see where I’m going with this?” I sighed and ran my hands through my hair. “I have nothing you need, let alone want. Believe me.“
Ax studied my face, his expression softened as he said, barely above a whisper, “Let me be the one who decides that.”
I looked away.
“Don’t do that, Ames,” he murmured. “Don’t shut me out.”
“Five years, Ax.” I looked straight ahead. “Five years where my tears were the only thing keeping me company at night. I think you lost the right to tell me what to do.”
He swore. The car door opened. I gasped as humid air filtered in. “What are you doing?”
“Getting out of the car.” He shrugged and gestured at the building. “Going into your apartment and packing you up. We’ll stay at a hotel tonight.”
I snorted. “My apartment not good enough for you?”
“No.” He pulled a gun from his jeans, thumbed off the safety, and held it out in front of him. “I just hate getting woken up in the middle of the night with gunshots ringing out, don’t you?”
“Yeah.” I gulped, my eyes still trained on the gun.
“Guns don’t hurt people… people do,” Ax said softly. “Remember that.”
“I do.” I met his gaze. “Because in the end, it wasn’t the gun that broke my heart — it was you.”

Yeah, I thought so.

Resist Me-- Chelle Bliss!!!

Yes, I know that James Caldo isn't a Gallo man. Do I care?? Nope. Not even a little bit. That man is freaking hot!! Far and away, my new fave in the Gallo clan- even if he doesn't share the name. And this is huge- given how much I love me some City. But James, my oh my. There are no words......
I'm afraid James makes City look like a kitten. Pure and true alpha, right down to his bones- especially in bed. Wow. Just wow. Izzy most definitely met her match in this one. Chelle- babe, you could not have done better. Simply phenomenal.
Most of you know that I have been a die hard Chelle fan since the beginning, and she only makes me fall harder in lady love with her every time she puts out a new book!! I just wanna give her a big ole hug!! This is someone that you know has poured herself into her work and into the characters that she writes. She makes you feel every emotion that they feel, which with Izzy and James- was a whole lotta frustration, lol.
You're going to read Resist Me, and you're going to want to throttle (see what I did there??) Izzy for being so stupid and pig headed sometimes. It's like she is sometimes her own worst enemy- almost too blind to see the damn good man that is standing in front of her. James decides early on that Izzy is it for him- and he is definitely a man that knows what he wants, and will stop at nothing to have it. So, to see him continue to stand up to the female equivalent to himself, and win- priceless. I love that Izzy finally gets a taste of her own medicine!! Just awesome.
Now, that's not to say that James doesn't take care to appreciate that Izzy is submissive to his nature at times, because he is. He treats her so beautifully, it makes you wonder how someone as dominant as him can do it. But he does, and in turn- we get to see Izzy drop her walls and let him in. Finally let herself grab onto some happiness. It's a huge leap for her- but one that works out beautifully.
I can't recommend this book more- it's my fave of Chelle's so far, although, she makes me fall harder with every one that I read. So, I know she will outdo herself with Thomas's story next. But for now- Izzy and James are going to be my #1's, as they get a blinding 5 stars from this junkie!!!

Excerpt:

I’d already raised my voice, but I couldn’t fucking help it. The woman was maddening. “I’m exactly what you need and want. You’re too fucking scared to admit it.”

She shook her head as she crawled out of bed and started to dress. “You’re not all that.”

“When you grow the fuck up, call me,” I said as I stalked toward her.

“You’re a total dick,” she hissed, moving to slap me.

I grabbed her wrist, pulling her to my body. Gripping her hair in my fist, I gave it a slight tug as I hovered over her lips. She gasped, holding my shoulders.

“You know you want me,” I growled, my lips a breath away from hers. “I wrecked you for any other man. I own your ass, Izzy. I’ll let you run, but you can’t resist me forever.”

Rival-- Penelope Douglas!!

Holy hotness and angst Batman!! Rival has it in loads!! Simply awesome!! At this point, Maddoc is my new man in the Fall Away series, even though I think it's gonna be Jax before too much longer!! I find myself saying, Jared who?? ;)

Maddoc and Fallon are to die for- just simply wonderful. The fact that their story has a past (much like Tate and Jared's) is great- I really loved getting the glimpse into their start. I know that a while back, Penelope had mentioned that there would be high school and college scenes, and at first, I think some people wondered how that all would work- but it was fabulous. A great transition from their teenage lust/ angst/ confusion, into their adult love and life together. And talk about hot!! Maddoc makes Jared look like a choir boy!! I was drooling for him!

But above all, what I loved the most- the fact that Maddoc allows no one, and I mean NO ONE to take Fallon from him again. He is willing to risk it all to ensure that they get their HEA, and that their love survives the test of time. It is freaking awesome!!

Of course, we get plenty of Tate and Jared, and even Jax (which, I'm telling you- is gonna be the best story yet), and even some KC and Liam. There is also quite a bit of "Wait, what??" reaction to some scenes and of course, as Penelope hints- the gang gets to come together for a big thing.  :)

Happy dances were had all around from this girl- I just can't tell you how much I loved this story. I highly recommend it and am giving it 5 huge stars!!

I’m back.

Three years and I can tell he still wants me, even if he acts like he’s better than me.

Grit-- Margaret McHeyzer

Well, this is the story of Jaeger and Phoenix (Dillon), and the first time in a while that I have given such a low rating to a book. Let me first say, that it is usually hard for me to find an MC book that I don't completely enjoy, however- this was the first.
There were some good points to the book for sure- I loved Phoenix's feisty attitude and will to fight for herself at all costs. I loved her relationship with Milina, and the way that Nix would readily sacrifice herself for her best friend. And I totally ADORED Sarge!! And the way he is with Milina- god I hope they have a book on the way.....
But I couldn't stand Jaeger. I tried- really, I did. But I just couldn't find anything about him that drew me in. There is a total difference in an alpha badass and a total jackass. He is definitely the latter. I really hated the way he just assumed Nix would fall at his feet and instantly become his, simply after he told her that he had seen her once, years prior. I mean- the girl just lost everything she held dear in her life, and all of a sudden this idiot has stormed in and tells her that he now owns her family farm, and he owns her as well. Come on! What kind of clueless idiot does that?? And then to continue to do it throughout the book- yeah, total moron.
The only thing that Nix continued to ask Jaeger the entire time, was to go home. In my mind, if he truly cared for her- he would have done anything possible to make that request come to fruition. Instead- he continues to ignore her- and eventually even trades her farm away!! Sarge really said it best- Jaeger is a total jackass!!
All in all, I just couldn't get past Jaeger's ignorant ways to allow Nix to save the story. I can only hope that Sarge and Milina have a book coming- as I feel as though that could redeem the story here. I can't say that I won't be reading more of Margaret's work again, just that I didn't click with this one. 3.5 stars from me.
