Rock Chick Revolution-- Kristen Ashley

What can I say, except that Kit has absolutely done it again!!! Love, love and even more love Ally and Ren's story...... even though it is the final book of the Rock Chick series, which yeah-- makes me so very sad!! Even though I discovered Kristen through Motorcycle Man, I quickly followed up that series with the Rock Chicks, and I gotta say- they are like members of my family. That is how much I feel like I am in touch and a part of those gals and guys lives, which totally makes it suck that it is the end of the line for them. But, I haven't had to despair too much since there have been some characters to show up in her Chaos series-- Yay!!!
So, as mentioned before, this is Ally and Ren's long awaited story. And damn what a story it is- fanfreakingtastic!! So glad to finally see Ally get her happy ending- even though it was with the one person that so many of us KA fans would have never expected it to be with. But, knowing now that it is Ren, I could not have picked anyone better for Ally to have to love her- and fuck does that man love her. He knows it so soon after they get together, and he does everything he can to get her to realize it, all the while also trying to get her to realize that she loves him too. And wow what a feat that was, because did I mention how damn stubborn that girl is?? We all thought Indy was bad, but she ain't got shit on Ally!! Probably explains why they are besties for life- sisters from separate wombs. I did freak out a bit in the beginning when I thought that they weren't gonna make it after she finally confronted him about his "unconscious ramblings" and didn't even give him the chance to defend himself before storming off....... Luckily our hot headed Italian bad ass alpha male didn't take her shit and demanded that she shut her damn mouth and hear him out. Ren's bad ass-ness just makes him all the more hot, and damn, he was already smoking. I love that he is demanding with her about her sharing her life and dreams with him, that he doesn't let her shy away from telling him exactly what she needs and wants out of their life together. It made me love him all the more. Because even though he originally hated the thought of her following the dream career that she wanted, he decided that her happiness and the love that he had for her was more important. The fact that these two were able to actually communicate, as in Ally wasn't afraid to open her big ass mouth, I think was the magic factor in what makes them work. And Kristen Ashley portrayed all of that beautifully.
I love that we got to see so much more of Darius too, and a deeper look into his pain and his life- both past and present. And, I especially love that we got so much of all of our other favorites too- all the Rock Chicks and the Hot Bunch, still together and happy- and in love. I adore that Tex got his happy ending, because let's be serious- who of us doesn't love Tex??? And most importantly, I love that we got to see into the future of the gang, and that we found out that there is more to come- just at a different angle......  ;)
So, KA-- you hit it out of the ballpark lady!! You further cemented the fact that you are, without a doubt, my absolute favorite author of all time. I cannot sing your praises enough girl- and I can't wait for all the goodies that you still have up your sleeve!!!!!
5 of the biggest stars in the sky for this one!!!!!

Elite-- Rachel Van Dyken

So, even though I wasn't sure about this one when I started it, I am glad that I stuck it out, since it completely took me by surprise! I read the blurb from the author about it, and let me just say- you really are shocked to find out what is exactly going on in the book, because it just doesn't match up to the blurb at all. At least I don't think it does, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't great- because it really was!! I actually have a bit of a book hangover from this one. Mainly because of the cliffy- yeah, the dreaded cliffy. I think my hangover with this one is more out of frustration, because so many things were left unfinished and up in the air between Nixon (our hero) and Trace (our heroine). There is a bit of a love triangle thing starting up between the two of them and Chase, Nixon's cousin and I think of as best friend. It really made for an interesting story. Especially when all of the secrets of Nixon and Trace's intertwined pasts began to unravel and come to light. It really was a case of "everything you have ever known your life to be has been a complete lie." I felt so bad for Trace, as everything and everyone that she had trusted her entire life since she could remember, had lied to her, and kept the importance of who she really was from her. And the one person that she thought she would never be able to trust, was the only one that was honest with her- protecting her, willing to lay down his life for her, and loving her the entire time. Nixon, while at the beginning, was simply begging for me to punch him in the throat multiple times, more than redeemed himself by the end. Once I finally saw why he had to do things the way he did, I fell in love with him and his tortured soul. He simply damned himself long before any of us readers ever could. My heart broke for him once I saw why he was the way he was. I loved the way that he loves Trace, pure and deep, and that it has lasted almost their entire lifetime. It really reminded me of Hopeless and Losing Hope (Colleen Hoover- see the earlier reviews) in that respect. I only wish that once that Trace discovered who she was, she could have drawn a bit more strength from it, and relied on herself instead of Chase so much. I felt like she was leading him on even though she didn't realize it, because I could clearly see how Chase feels about her. Just another lovely twist in the next book, Elect, from what I read in the sneak peek of it. I really find myself anticipating Elect's release almost more than most other sequels, since I still have so many unanswered questions about things. But that doesn't take away from the fact that I loved this book, and can't wait to see more.
5 stars

Real-- Katy Evans

OMG....................
There is simply nothing, and I do mean nothing, more sexy than a man with a star tatted somewhere on his lovely body. And to have that particular ink just above the promise land. Jesus H Christ......... I could have never even read this book and would have given it 5 stars just based on the damn cover!!However, I did read it (actually read it MONTHS ago, and am just now getting to the review, lol)--- I read it and I fell in love!! Remy. Remy. Remy. I feel like I should be screaming his name rather than typing it since that is what this book did- it made me want to scream out in pleasure several times. This one is a scorcher. Wooooo. So good.
Remy, a tatted up prized fighter, is competing one night when in walks Brooke, a naïve young thing that he simply cannot resist. He wants this girl, with every fiber of his being, so much so that he simply walks out of the ring to chase after her when she runs. Now, why in the hell would she run you ask? Because she knows. She knows how her body reacts to just the sight of him alone, how her heart hammers when he looks at her, and how intensely she knows he wants her in return. She knows. So, she does what she knows best and takes off like a bat outta hell from the ring, only to be stopped and confronted by Remy, because he is not about to let what he knows is going to be the best thing to ever happen to him, walk away. He just can't. So, in order to be sure that she remains by his side, he makes her an offer she cannot refuse- to be his personal physical sports "therapist"....... you know, because he needs all of those aches and kinks worked out each night ;)
Luckily, she accepts, even though she does it with the pretense in her head that she is going to keep it professional, not hanky panky. She isn't going to let Remy get into her pants, and most definitely not into her heart. Silly girl, she outta know- this boy fights for a living. Now, why in the hell would she think that he wouldn't fight his way into her life too?? And boy does he ever...... Like I said before, so damn good. I am so very happy to see that there are more books coming out in this series, even though I hate that we have to wait until November to get the next one, I am good. It is well worth the wait- I promise you that. You guys have to meet Remy, you are truly gonna love him!!
5 big old huge stars!!

The Edge of Never-- J.A. Redmerski

Oh good lord, this book completely shredded me, I most definitely have to start with that!! But damn, it was amazing!! It definitely is one of those rip out your guts and your heart at the same time kinda books- then slowly, and very excruciatingly puts it back inside and jumbles around the pieces before it finally finishes the puzzle. Yeah, that's about right. What an emotional ride. This one brought out the tears for sure, which hasn't happened since Falling Into You by Jasinda Wilder. Now all that being said- buy this damn book!! You have to- you just must.
Camryn meets Andrew one day while on a cross country Greyhound bus trip to find herself, and whatever it is in life that makes her happy. They meet and have an instant spark, even though they bristle up against one another just as much as they get along. The banter with these two is simply classic. I loved it! So, after Andrew rescues her from a rather dangerous situation, she latches herself to his side in order to help him with some deeply personal and tragic circumstances going on in his life. They quickly become the other's rock, in life, in friendship and importantly, in love.
They decide to take another adventure, this time just the two of them, in route to Texas (where Andrew now lives, Cam is from North Carolina), as Cam is sure that this is where her happiness lies. She takes a huge leap of faith with Andrew and sets out on a life changing journey, never expecting to find the purpose of her life (music), and also, the love of her life in Andrew. The book also shows how the two of them learn to grow together and finally lean on someone else in their life after years of shutting others out.
Now, there was a point in the book where I just simply lost it-- I mean, the ugly cry. Yeah girls, you all know what that is. The hiccoughing sobs that wrack your body, snot up your nose and make your head pound like a high school marching band has taken up residence there. It was that bad. I don't want to say what prompted this because, it is one of those things that you HAVE to experience, you have to be taken by surprise, you have to feel that loss, you have to have aforementioned guts and heart ripped out in order to truly appreciate it. It is just so heartbreaking. And I really believed that was the end. I can't tell what happens after, as it really does give away too much, except to say that there is a second book coming soon. The Edge of Always. I cannot wait to read it, I need to finish out this story in my head and in my heart. It is simply beautiful. Please don't hesitate- get this book. You will not be disappointed.
5 stars all the way!!

Louder than Love-- Jessica Topper

Now, there really is nothing better than a rock star romance, well maybe unless it is a tattoo artist, or a biker, or some other form of hot said romance....... Sigh...... Anywho. Even though I had never before come across anything from this author, I am so very glad that I did. This one is a bit different from the other rocker novels that I have read though, not that it's a bad thing by any means, just not what I was expecting. This one didn't have quite the amount of graphic sex that I was used to- not that it wasn't steamy in its own right- did I mention the bathroom wall sex?? ;)
So, we meet in this book, Katrina, aka Tree, aka Kat (but only to Adrian)- and her hero, Adrian. Kat has lived quite the tragic life in her thirty two years, having met her husband, given birth to their daughter, and then losing him to a tragic and untimely death just before the baby's first birthday. Grief stricken, she moves back to her hometown and in with her parents, who she lovingly refers to as "snowbirds", as in they fly south to Florida for the winter. Given that they are getting older, they decide to relocate there permanently and gift Kat their house, ensuring that she and Abbey (her now 4 1/2 year old daughter) have a permanent and stable home. During this time, her daughter discovers a cartoon on PBS and falls in love, constantly going around the house singing the theme song. So Kat, being the librarian that she is, does some research and tracks down the singer of said song to book him for a personal appearance to a function at the library. Enter Adrian, the sexy British songster that she instantly falls for, even though she is pissed because he shows up drunk, to a children's function. Yep, this man has some issues of his own too. However, he immediately tells her how beautiful she is and decides that she is something he definitely wants. She falls for him even harder when she sees how good he is with children, her daughter in particular- he is already wrapped around Abbey's pinky finger upon the first meet. It really is too sweet, even though it goes back to deal with his own daughter that he was never there for. Did I mention that he used to be a rock god?? Oh, I left that out?? Yeah, well I don't want to get into it, because it has to do with one of the little twists and turns of the story, and you really do need to read it yourself to understand why he does what he does.
These two have to overcome some big demons from Adrian's past, because let's face it, the boy is pretty damaged himself- all the while, overcoming the ghost of Kat's deceased husband, whom Adrian feels as though he is competing against. It is quite heart wrenching at times, but it makes it all very worth it in the end. Even though the story does have an HEA, I really felt like there could have been just a bit more to it, or possibly an epilogue so that we can see where they finally ended up. Just my wishful thinking I suppose. Perhaps one day in the future, Ms. Topper will give us a little something extra ;)  Ah, one can hope..........

Against the Ropes-- Sarah Castille

Max, oh my Max....... Simply yum!! This man is amazing, and not afraid to show it- at all. When Makayla finds herself suddenly thrust into the job of an assistant in Redemption, an underground mixed martial arts club, she comes face to face with Max, aka Torment- the larger than life owner of said club. And the most sexy man that she has ever seen. She is instantly drawn to him, and likewise, him to her. Upon discovering her usefulness as a trained EMT- he decides to hire her to become the new medical attendant for the club since he is not able to hire a normal physician due to it being an unsanctioned establishment. Due to some extenuating circumstances on her part, and the fact that Max is willing to pay her whatever she desires, she reluctantly accepts and suddenly becomes one of the family at the club. Now, I know you are wondering why she would be so reluctant to accept considering that she and Max are crazy about each other and all that, but there is one little detail that I forgot to mention- this chick abhors violence..... Yep, can't even begin to stomach it- so much that it makes her physically sick to see it. Something to do with some of the demons of her past. But, she overlooks it all, just so that she can be with Max. These two really have a great and pure love, even though it is also a tortured one as well. They deal with a lot of crap in their quest for happiness, whether it be jealous ex girlfriends, over zealous debt collectors, pushy male admirers, banned former fighters from the club, and even themselves- they overcome it all. This story is one that is a standalone, no cliff hanger- and most importantly, the wonderful HEA. I really loved it and look forward to more from this author.
4.5 stars!!   (Release date-- September 3, 2013)
