MY REVIEW:

Oh dear lord, did I know that Mason's book was going to slay me!! And yes, without a doubt- it did. Totally. Darkest Temptation is, hands down, the best of the series. This is one of my favorites of Rachel's, with Mason being the long suffering hero that carried more pain that one man should. I hurt for him on such a deep level, that I yearned for RVD to finally let him find a slice of happiness. However, I had no idea that she would give us the story that she did.

Nothing that I expected to happen in Mason's book did- which is a great thing. Literally, I never saw any of it coming. I was blown away at all of the twists and turns to his and Serenity's lives, and how they had been woven together, long before either one ever knew of the other. They were literally, soulmates.

Not only had Mason's life been one of immense pain and anguish, given the loss of his former "mate", but Serenity's hadn't been a walk in the park either. Having come from parents that she felt loved one another more than they loved her- she had essentially been alone for years, searching for someone to love her, for her. She wanted someone who felt as though she was enough for them- that she was their everything, their sole reason for existence. And she found that, in Mason.

To see Mason's destiny come to fruition was such a sweet sight, I cannot even begin to find the words to explain it. To finally see him take his rightful place as King of the Land- which was a much powerful place than any of us ever imagined him to be in, was beautiful. It was magical. It was perfect. I would have almost said that it was a perfect ending to the series, except that Rachel gave us a glimpse at Timber at the end of the book. Oh Timber, broody, mysterious Timber. And I found myself suddenly wanting so much more of that man. So, I'm happy to see that he appears to be getting his own book as well, because I needed to see how he wins his Goddess's love.

If you have ever wondered if this series was for you, you don't need to any longer, because believe me, it is. Absolutely. Everything about it is amazing and perfect, but especially this book. So, grab it up.

The air around me thickened with a sweet-smelling fog. I inhaled and closed my eyes, allowing my baser instincts to take over.

“Wolf.” She whispered my name.

I sniffed. The voice was not familiar. It was not my mate. It was… other.

“Wolf,” she beckoned again.

Branches crunched beneath my feet as I made my way closer to the sweet scent, closer to the warmth, closer to what I should have been running from.

I was already mated.

And yet — I was being pulled.

Like a siren’s song.

I hated sirens.

Every last one of them.
