This is a love story.
This is a romantic story.
Except bananas. Bananas are never romantic.
Lissa was a twenty-year-old girl trying to make it in the equestrian world. She was sassy and smart, strong and a little weird. And she had no idea what she was doing.
Ethan was twenty-seven, tattooed, tall, dark, and hot. And lugging some baggage. He’d already made it in the business and brought Lissa on to help get her on her feet. And it turned out, he liked a little weird.
Ethan made it clear that he wasn’t in the market for a relationship. Lissa was happy to learn the ropes and push her attraction aside.
But how do you draw the line when every touch makes you…shiver?

MY REVIEW FOR SHIVER:
This was a first for me, as far as books are concerned- one about equestrians, that is. However, the synopsis drew me in, and I'm pretty happy that I read it! I loved the chemistry between Ethan and Lissa, and yeah- the sex scenes were plenty steamy guys!! CM definitely knows how to write a great scene- that's for sure. Also, I loved how protective Ethan was of Lissa- even before they were officially together- he seemed to always be looking out for her. Add in the fact that he was a tatted up, semi bad ass- yeah, that's gonna go it for me!!
Now, I did have one complaint about the story- I really felt like it was more like a novel, with a novella epilogue attached. I felt as though the story could have ended after the wedding, it didn't need the story of Thomas added in. I understand the author wanted to show a glimpse into their future and give them some type of adversity to overcome, but it just felt disconnected from the rest of the book. Again- this is just my opinion. All in all, I enjoyed the book and give it 4 stars!!

“Dance with me?” Lawrence’s voice behind me pulled me from my musings.
I turned with a smile. “Why thank you, sir.”
I followed him onto the dance floor, the orchestra playing a Frank Sinatra ballad. He swept me into his arms like, well, like the perfect gay best friend.
“Don’t you say it.”
“Say what?” I asked innocently.
“I am not your gay best friend. I have sisters. They took dance lessons. My mom made me partner them.”
I couldn’t help laughing loudly, drawing some disapproving glances. He quickly spun me and dipped me in playful retaliation. As he drew me back up, I stood staring straight into Ethan’s heated gaze.
“Can I cut in?” he asked without breaking our eye contact.
From the corner of my eye, I caught Lawrence nodding and stepping away before I was pulled flush to Ethan and we glided across the floor.
“You look absolutely stunning.” He breathed softly into my ear, his right hand settling low, really low, on my bare back, and I shivered.
“Cold?” I felt him smile.
“No, I’m not cold,” I stated quietly, enjoying the feel of being in his arms, the texture of him beneath his tuxedo, and the touch of our hands.
“Are you having fun tonight?”
“I am.” I nodded slowly. “I didn’t know you would be here.”
“I came as a trophy.”
I pulled back to look in his eyes. “Whose trophy? And why?” I was a little irrationally angry and felt stupid that I thought we were having a kind of moment, only to find out he was here with someone else.
“Why are you angry? You do realize you’re here with a date too, right?”
I waved him off. “Lawrence and I are just friends. He’s my arm candy for the night. And maybe a kiss at midnight if I get tipsy enough.”
He glared at me, jaw flexing back and forth. “You’re just friends who sleep together?”
“No. Just friends. As in… actual friends. Nothing more.”
“Why have you both been blatantly flaunting your relationship in front of me then?”
I shrugged. “It tickled me.”
“It tickled you,” he repeated slowly, dangerously.
“Yes. It did. It tickled me to see your mood swings every day, and I was making bets on when you were going to start your period.”
Despite his irritation, he laughed out loud. “God, you’re weird.” He pulled me closer, wrapping my arms up around his neck and sliding his hands down my bare arms and then down my back, settling them there. “I don’t know what I’m doing with you,” he muttered softly.

I live in beautiful Northern Virginia with my incredible husband, two awesome kids, three dogs, and two budgies. My husband and I both grew up riding and competing horses and have our own equestrian operation that we run together. In my spare time, I read through the hundreds of stories awaiting me on my e-reader.
My love of books started early, and my mom used to ration my reading time so I didn't go through them too quickly. I love all things romantic, whether it's dark or light or silly or dirty, but I really love a happy ending!
In my small moments of quiet time, you'll find me sipping on wine and reading while any movie where people randomly burst into song or dance plays in the background.

SYNOPSIS

BLOOD WILL BE SHED...

The ghosts of Donovan "Blade" Brookes' life are closing in on him.

Hardened by an abusive childhood and haunted by the murder of his fiancĂ©, Blade struggles against the dark forces threatening to consume him.  When he helps Layla Reed in her hour of need, he has no idea she will be the light to his darkness.  As they spend more time together, he is powerless to fight his desire for her.  Powerless to fight his need for her.  However, as his feelings deepen, he pushes her away, reluctant to drag her into his world.  With enemies coming at him from all directions, Storm MC needing his help to fight off a rival, and his father still causing him grief, Blade needs the love of a good woman now more than ever.  Can Layla push Blade to the edge and get him to admit to both of them what he wants?  Or will the darkness pull him under once and for all?

EXCERPT

Donovan pretty much yanked me from his car and into his house.  I’d fallen in love with his home the first time I’d visited.  It was very masculine, in grey and black tones.  Very Donovan.  Today I hardly had a chance to notice it as he dragged me through it and into his bedroom.  Fuck, I loved it when he was like this: demanding and bossy as hell.

And intense.

Donovan’s intensity attracted me to him even before he’d rescued me that night.  I’d watched him for a long time, and while I found him a little scary, I’d wanted to know how that intensity would translate in the bedroom.  And now I knew – it was hot, and it made me crave his touch like I’d never craved a man’s touch before.

He got me into his bedroom, pushed me up against the wall, and shoved his hand straight up my skirt, and into my panties.

Fuck.

His eyes blazed with desire as he growled, “I know you want my dick, but I need to feel you first.”

I grabbed his face with both hands.  “Make it quick,” I demanded before pulling his lips to mine.

His fingers pushed inside, and he grunted something unintelligible into my mouth as he kissed and fingered me.  I let his face go so I could reach down and hike my skirt up around my waist.  Then I wrapped one of my legs around him, and tilted my pussy forward so his fingers could go deeper.

“Oh, fuck,” I moaned as his fingers brought me so much pleasure.  It was too much.  I needed his cock now, so I pushed him away.

He knew what I wanted and began tearing off my clothes.  Once he had me naked, he stripped himself while I stood and enjoyed the show.  Then he picked me up and deposited me on the bed before moving on top of me.

“One day soon, I’m gonna get fucking creative with you, but for the moment, I just need to get inside you and fuck you,” he said as his cock entered me.

I wrapped my arms and legs around him and moved with him.  “I don’t need creative, Donovan.  I just need you.”

He pulled out and thrust in again.  Over and over, he repeated this and kept up a slow, torturous pace.

His eyes were focused on mine.

Completely.

As if this was his way of communicating with me.

And I felt that; I felt what he wasn’t saying.

It seemed like he fucked me for an eternity.  He brought me close, then backed off, then repeated this over and over.  By the time I came, I was in a delirious state of bliss.  My body was not my own anymore, it was Donovan’s, and I simply moved with him while he skilfully controlled me.

My eyes were shut, and my mind and body lit up with the pleasure from my orgasm.  I screamed out Donovan’s name at almost the same time that his body tensed and he roared with his release.

I clung to him tightly as the last drops of pleasure rushed through me, until I eventually let go, and murmured, “You sure know what you’re doing, don’t you?”

He stared at me for a couple of beats before saying, “It’s you, baby.”

“What’s me?”  I was still half delirious from the orgasm, but I sensed something in his words and struggled to fight through the haze to grasp what he was saying.

“You bring it out of me.  I’ve fucked a lot of women, but I’ve never felt it like this before.”  He paused for a second before adding, quite firmly, “Never.”

 REVIEW

Well. I knew, just knew it. I knew Blade would take Nash's place as my main Storm man, even if he isn't technically Storm. God, my heart broke for Blade. After finally getting all of his story- anyone, and I mean anyone, could absolutely see why he was as closed off to so much of the world as he was. And Layla- yeah, she's freaking awesome. No other way to cut it- that chick is numero uno in my book- not to be topped. I could not have hand picked someone better to be the balm to Blade's soul.
I also love that we got a healthy dose of all of our Storm peeps- even if the situation between Scott and Harlow was less than ideal (come on Nina- I'm gonna need you to fix that, lol). Even still- it was like coming home again. Add in the feeling of seeing Sharon finally get her freedom, and Marcus to get what he deserved- yeah, total righteousness. Nina blew me away, yet again, with this one- making sure that I am good and impatiently needing Griff's story, like yesterday!!
Can't wait to see what else she's got in store for the gang- I know she won't let us down.

5 stars!!!!

"What lies beneath my veiled perfection is the ugly truth—my truth, my reality, my destiny."

Vivian Graham has an acceptance letter into Harvard, a badass tattoo, loyal friends, ties to marijuana, a penchant for Dunkin’ Donuts, and her pesky V-card.

Everyday she takes the Red Line to her job at The Green Pot in Boston while her friends enter the coveted, black iron gates to higher learning. The ramifications from a tragic accident have put her life on hold while time marches on for everyone around her.

After graduating from Harvard Law, Boston native, Oliver Konrad, moves to Portland to start his career and his life. Three years later, after a horrific discovery, he returns home to trade in his three-piece suit for leather work boots and his suburban home for a condo in Cambridge.

All he brought back to the East Coast was an aversion to pillows and secrets he keeps hidden behind a mysterious locked door. Oliver’s days are predictable and his nights are lonely until he meets Vivian on the subway. Her long raven hair, green eyes, and mile-long legs are achingly sexy, but the way she "innocently" fingers and licks her Boston Kreme doughnut can only be described in two words—complete torture.

When their paths cross at every turn, laughter is abundant, friendship is easy, and love is unintentional. However, their future seems improbable.

Excerpt

“I don’t need panties.”

“I disagree,” he says with his back to me as he signs for the purchase at the counter. He takes the bag in one hand and grabs my hand with his other. “Shall we?” He leads me out of the store.

A, I have plenty of panties. B, I told you I don’t wear them sometimes because it makes me feel sexy.”

He opens my door and sets the bag by my feet after I get in. Then he leans down and brings his face a breath away from mine as his hand slides up my leg. His thumb eases past my shorts. He stops and shakes his head as the pad of it meets my bare sex, no underwear.

My face contorts into a grimacing smile as my shoulders rise into a guilty shrug. He presses his thumb to my now wet center. My mouth relaxes as I suck in a breath and try to close the distance between our lips. He moves his head back just enough to deny me. He grins then moves his thumb a little higher. I moan as he rubs slow circles.

“How do you feel?” he whispers.

“G–good.” I grip the side of the seat and let my head fall back.

“What else?”

“Turned … on.” I close my eyes.

“What else?”

I tilt my hips up as he works me up so high I fear my own reaction to the impending fall.

“Oli …”

He speeds up, pressing his lips to my neck, and when his teeth graze over my sensitive skin I lose it.

“What. Else?” he whispers in my ear as the blinding sensation rips through me.

“Sexy … I feel … sexy.” I try to catch my breath while my head’s still spinning.

He kisses me hard then shuts my door.

I hate that I have no self-control to deny him giving me an orgasm while parked with the door open on a public street. Now he’s sporting a ridiculously smug grin as he pulls out into traffic.

“What was the point of that?” I break the silence.

“I wanted to prove that I make you feel sexy. Now that you know that, you can start wearing underwear.”

“What does it matter if no one else can see that I’m not wearing underwear?”

“First, some of the dresses you wear are awfully short. Second, I know you’re not wearing underwear and I don’t like walking around saluting everyone I pass.”

“Saluting?”

He shoots me a you-know-what-I-mean look.

“Whatever, you’re just being weird.”

“I’m being a guy.”

“That’s what I said. You’re being weird.”
